Museo Ara Pacis

Intended to celebrate peace in Spain and Gaul, the Ara Pacis was consecrated in 9 BCE between via Flaminia and the Mausoleum of Augustus. Decorated with the achievements of Emperor Augustus and portraits of the Giulio-Claudia gens, it has been enclosed in a protective building made of steel and marble designed by Meier since 2006. The white of the marble was actually covered with vivid dazzling colours.
