Circo Massimo

A portion of the area gives us an idea of the original purpose of this immense stadium, 120 metres wide and 620 metres long, likely the largest structure ever built to stage spectacles and able to seat 250,000 people. It was used for horse races and a market. This is also where the Rape of the Sabine Women occurred. Today, it is a popular place for hosting large events.
