Chiesa di San Pietro in Montorio

It is famous for the Tempietto designed by Bramante, a small circular building made according to Vitruvian precepts. Legend says that St. Peter was martyred here, and Beatrice Cenci has been buried here since her execution in 1599. The Tempietto was commissioned by the Spanish king Ferdinand II of Aragon in the early 16th century to dissolve a vow. Today, the former convent houses the Royal Spanish Academy.
